Testing New Approaches to Improve Employment Outcomes

We are committed to finding new and better ways to help people access and sustain good work. Through pilot projects, research and partnership work, we test innovative approaches to employment support, gather evidence on what works, and use this learning to shape future services across West London.

By working closely with employers, healthcare professionals, local authorities and delivery partners, we can explore new solutions to long-standing barriers to employment and ensure our services are informed by real-world experience.

SME Resilience Pilot

Small and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of the local economy, but many face challenges in supporting employee health, wellbeing and workforce retention.

This pilot is exploring how targeted employment and health support can help SMEs build a more resilient workforce, improve staff wellbeing, reduce absence and retain valuable employees. The findings will help inform future employer support services across West London.

Fit Note Pilot

The Fit Note Pilot tested new ways to support people who receive a fit note to remain in work or return to work sooner where appropriate.

Working with health and employment partners, the pilot aimed to improve access to timely employment support, strengthen links between healthcare and workplace services, and help people receive the right support at the earliest opportunity. Learning from the pilot will help shape future approaches to work and health support.

Learning and Evaluation

Every programme and pilot includes a process of evaluation and learning. We use feedback, outcomes data and partner insight to understand what is making the biggest difference and where services can be improved.

Our goal is simple: to build an evidence base that helps more people benefit from effective employment support and enables employers to create healthier, more inclusive workplaces.
